Matheus Nunes is determined to succeed at Manchester City with his managers backing

Manchester City midfielder Matheus Nunes is determined to make it at the European champions under Pep Guardiola. Having arrived at the club on deadline day from Wolves the Portuguese international has endured a stop-start beginning to his City career. But now that he has returned to full fitness he is determined to make the required grade at the treble winners.

Since arriving at the Etihad the midfielder has made 13 appearances for City. He has only started 5 of those games as finds his find at his new club. Injuries have cost Nunes the chance to make a bigger impression at the treble winners. His quality has been evident in small glimpses so far from the former Wolves midfielder.

In an interview with SkySports Matheus Nunes believes he will make it at Manchester City. The Portuguese international is certain that City manager Pep Guardiola will make him a better player. He said: “I still need to improve some things, but if Pep believes I should be here there is no reason why I shouldn’t. I want to score more goals, recover more balls, get more assists. But he improves every player who comes into the team, and I will be no different.”

City manager Pep Guardiola has a proven record of improving players. If the injury issues that have set Nunes back are behind him, his game should benefit from Guardiola’s tutelage. There isn’t any doubt that the quality is there with Nunes he now needs to seize his opportunities when they arise.

With his belief, determination and skillset Nunes is more than capable of making it at Manchester City. Judging by his comments with SkySports it feels like it is only a matter of time before he makes his mark for the champions.
